It’s based on one alcoholic helping another. Having had a spiritual awakening as the result of these Steps, we tried to carry this message to alcoholics, and to practice these principles in all our affairs. Continued to take personal inventory and when we were wrong promptly admitted it. Were entirely ready to have God remove all these defects of character. The Twelve Steps are outlined in the book Alcoholics Anonymous. Try not to be dismayed–every meeting attended is still a step in the right direction, whether or not you feel particularly connected to the group. Still, to make your search as successful as possible, there are a few things to keep in mind that might make a meeting experience better (or worse) for you. Members work together to help the alcoholic who still suffers. Helping each other is a key to staying sober. There are many opportunities to participate in a variety of ways.

Some people feel they need to attend an AA meeting every day. Some people prefer to go once a week. Some people only go occasionally, when they feel they need extra help in staying sober. Experience has shown us that groups which use the Twelve Traditions have the best chance of maintaining unity and ensuring their ability to be there for the sick and suffering alcoholic who reaches out for help. Groups stick to our single purpose – recovery from alcoholism, protect the anonymity of their members, avoid affiliation with or endorsements of outside enterprises and are self-supporting. The 12 Steps of AA (Alcoholics Anonymous)

The portal organized by the OIAA should help you sort out meetings by format, time zone, preferred language, and meeting type, among many other options. AA is not allied with any sect, denomination, politics, organisation or institution; does not wish to engage in any controversy; neither endorses nor opposes any causes. Our primary purpose is to stay sober and help other alcoholics to achieve sobriety. Use the filter options to find upcoming meetings on specific days or types such as “Tuesday” “Big Book”, “Speaker”, or “Proof of Attendance”. Some AA meetings are filled with people who are simply trying to ride out the event—whether they’re there by court order or are still not quite ready to fully embrace the program or their place in it.

You can help people who are affected by alcoholism by making a donation to the Cleveland District Office. There are thousands of AA meetings run all across the country, and each goes at its own pace, with its own types of discussions. They say we are a composite of the people we spend the most time with and this goes double for recovery. These newsletters include information about A.A. We do Not hold zoom meetings. Our meetings are held in Text Only Format (No Audio/Video). Per Tradition 12, Anonymity is the spiritual foundation of all our Traditions. Given alcoholics anonymous the number of individuals struggling with or at risk for an AUD, it is understandable that AA has grown to what it is today—an organization with more than 115,000 groups worldwide.
